Cartuja island is the Seville of two Exhibitions: Columbus lodged in its monastery while preparing his voyages, Expo 92 was held here, and from the crossing of both eras came the theme park, the pavilions and Calatrava's Alamillo bridge. A family outing with monastery, contemporary art among pottery chimneys and the river's best sunset.
The route
Apartamento Esencia Sevilla
Route starting point. Leave the apartment towards the first stop.
Monasterio de la Cartuja (CAAC)
15th-century monastery where Columbus was buried. Now the Andalusian Contemporary Art Centre.

Tip: Back to the centre, bus C1/C2 stops at the door; on foot it's 35 minutes along the riverbank.
